Encore is the first single that the group has released ever since their departure from JYP Entertainment. It was released on the 20th of February 2021 with the members posting teasers on their socials a day prior to its release. Jinyoung Park (one of the members and the writer & composer of the song) has said that this song is meant to be a message for their fans, a reassurance that they would always come back on stage as a whole to sing for their fans (an encore if you will). It was said that he wrote the song back in December 2020, a month prior to their contract ending. Fans have shared their sentiments on that, many were moved by the fact that he had wrote something with the members and fans in mind. The production of the song happened in Jackson Wang’s personal studio as well as the music video. The music video was shot with Mamesjao (James Mao, a director who have shot multiple music videos of 88rising’s artists as well as Jackson’s music videos). As it turns out the members actively took part in creating the song as a whole. Mark Tuan was the executive producer which means he was in charge of securing the financing of the entire project. Jaebeom Lim took care of all the paperwork that came with releasing a song without a label, he took care of the distribution, trademarks, sales and operational matters. Without the resources of their ex-company, they still managed to create a powerful song and music video.
